Wellington artist Heather Wilson is fast establishing herself on the New Zealand art scene.

Her highly textured, richly hued work has found critical and commercial acclaim, and can be found in private and corporate collections throughout New Zealand and overseas. Her love of bold colour and texture is a distinctive trademark of her work.

Before starting her career as an artist in the 1990's Heather held professional positions in the food industry having graduated from Otago University with a double degree in food science and human nutrition. The influence of food still comes through strongly in many of her works.

Drawing inspiration from all aspects of life, Heather's contemporary artworks also explore aspects of New Zealand's iconic scenery in particular the Hawke's Bay, Wellington and the Far North.

Heather exhibits regularly at Ora Gallery in Wellington and

Parnell Gallery in Auckland. Her works are also in the Gallery at Helena Bay Hill in Northland and Moko Gallery at Hot Water Beach. She also exhibited at Emerge Gallery, Wine Country Gallery and the Ora Design Store in Lower Hutt prior to their closure. Over recent years she has held many successful exhibitions demonstrating the growing demand for her work.

Heather has recently developed a new brand called "minature masterpieces" which can be found at Oyster designstore in Petone, Embellishments Giftware in Rotorua and Port o' Call in Ahuriri, Napier. This brand includes small "nearly pocketsize" works which can be purchased at an affordable price. These pieces are not available in Galleries.

In December 2007 Heather moved from her studio/gallery in the seaside suburb of Petone, to her studio in Taradale, Napier. Heather's studio/gallery is on the Hawkes Bay Art Trail for tourists and any interested locals.
